A recently authenticated 1775 "broadside" notice published by the local Revolutionary "committee of correspondence" in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, urges pacifist conscientious objectors to pay sufficient money to the Revolutionary War effort to dispel any notion they were merely shirking a patriot's duty.
