Islam Discourages Adoption

Adoption is a great alternative to the holocaust of abortion, yet Islam discourages adoption. I'm reading in Robert Spencer's book "The Truth About Muhammad" how this grew out of Muhammad marrying the divorced wife of his adopted son.
