Alan Keyes Agrees: #RepealThe17th #tcot #tpot #17A #2A

Surveying the constitutional changes adopted, by hook or crook, in the course of the 20th century, it appears as if some hidden hand carefully crafted the precise sequence of events Hamilton describes. The good offices of the state legislatures, as guardians of the sovereignty of the people, were not just corrupted, they were entirely eliminated by the 17th Amendment. Thanks to that change, the influence of elitist corporate money and media power came to dominate in the election of U.S. senators. This moved the U.S. Senate into the orbit of elitist national and international corporate interests, beginning especially with the financial interests that effectively nationalized America’s banks and the control of our national income and capital formation.

Disappointed with Live Video Call on #ArticleV #COS #tcot #2A #RepealThe17th

Just attended a live video call at http://conventionofstates.com

I’m very disappointed that repealing the 17th Amendment does not seem to be a priority with the leaders, even though it is clearly a priority with those volunteers attending the call, based on the number of comments urging repeal of the 17th Amendment (and the +1 votes those comments received).

There seems to be too many goals.  Yes, it helps to have controlling the Supreme Court as an objective, both politically and as a real and necessary goal.  But i do not understand why Michael Farris thinks repealing the 17th is not directly relevant to achieving that objective.

Repealing the 17th should be the major focus of such a convention, and if they have other ideas to check SCOTUS then fine they can add those for discussion.

Interesting trends in concealed carry laws #tcot #2A #CCW #OC

Of Arms and the Law: Interesting trends in concealed carry laws.

From an article in the Idaho Statesman (which cites Clayton Cramer and John Lott).

Between 1986 and the present days:

States prohibiting concealed carry, with no licenses to do so available, shrank from 16 to 0.
States allowing permits on a discretionary “may issue” basis shrank from 25 to 9.
States allowing permits on a “shall issue” basis rose from 8 to 36.
States allowing concealed carry with no permit rose from 1 to 5.

All this over a period when both total homicides and gun homicides have fallen by about half.

#Veterans Heritage Firearms Act of 2015: Bills to Allow Registration of #NFA Firearms Acquired Overseas #2A #tcot

From NRA-ILA (NRA-ILA | Veterans Heritage Firearms Act of 2015):

U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and U.S. Representative Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) recently introduced S.670 and H.R. 1316 respectively, the Veterans Heritage Firearms Act of 2015.  Both of these bills would create a 180-day amnesty period for veterans, or their family members, to register National Firearms Act firearms acquired overseas before October 31, 1968,without fear of prosecution.  This important legislation would make it lawful to possess or transfer the registered firearms.

For many years, World War II–and other–veterans lawfully acquired firearms overseas, but may not have received official paperwork to document the guns.  And, of course, many veterans, or their family members, may have lost such paperwork over the years.

Congress passed legislation in 1968 that granted a limited, and brief, amnesty period but most veterans did not receive enough notice to participate or were not even aware of the amnesty period.  The Veterans Heritage Firearms Act will protect veterans and their family memberswho currently possess these firearms, from prosecution when trying to register them.

NRA fully supports S. 670 and H.R. 1316, and appreciates Sen. Cotton’s and Rep. Miller’s leadership on this important issue.

Please contact your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representative and urge them to COSPONSOR AND SUPPORT S. 670 and H.R. 1316 respectively.

You can contact your elected officials about this important legislation by using our “Write Your Lawmakers” tool at www.NRAILA.org, or by phone at (202) 224-3121.

#California: Contact the State Assembly Committee on Public Safety to Support Assembly Bill 225 #tcot #2A #catcot

ALERT FROM NRA-ILA:

On Tuesday, March 17, the state Assembly Committee on Public Safety is scheduled to hear Assembly Bill 225.
AB 225, sponsored by Assembly Member Melissa Melendez (R),would make filing a false Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) a felony and punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for 2 to 4 years.
The need for AB 225 came about due to the deeply flawed AB 1014 that was enacted into law last year.  AB 1014 authorizes a law enforcement officer or an immediate family member of a person to seek, and a court to issue, a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO).  In addition to due process concerns, this could lead to innocent conduct triggering a denial of rights for individuals who pose no danger to society because of a simple misunderstanding between law enforcement and immediate family members.
AB 225 is meaningful legislation that would help deter the filing of false information by law enforcement and immediate family members with the court, for the issuance of a Gun Violence Restraining Order.

Please CALL the members of the state Assembly Committee on Public Safety TODAY urging them to SUPPORT AB 225.  Contact phone numbers are listed below and further contact information can be found HERE.
Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends, fellow gun owners and sportsmen urging them to also call members of the Committee.

Man Who Believes He’s a Werewolf Claims Self-Defense Against a Vampire #2A #tcot #catcot

Werewolf strikes in Atascadero, CA, apparently following the advice of Outlaw Josey Wales:

Why is a werewolf roaming the streets of California?

It’s not about the gun. California’s highly touted, unconstitutional “gun violence restraining order” did not and could not have prevented this incident. These cases are all about the failure of our mental health care and law enforcement systems to take responsibility for those who clearly can’t take responsibility for themselves. Not to mention their relatives’ failure to step up.
